How the free bets work. To get your free bet an online bookmaker will require you to first of all open an account, deposit funds, and then place a bet. The free bet on offer will vary from bookie to bookie but generally you can receive anywhere between £10 and £200.
Sometimes bookies will run special betting promotions where they will give you more free money but this is generally during large sports events such as the Grand National or Football World Cup.
It is worth mentioning that the free bets on offer do not always return your stake with your winnings. Most will only return to you the amount you have actually won with the bet – not including say the £50 free they gave you.
Another factor to take into account is that most bookies will only pay the free bet if your original stake is above a certain odds. For example Betfred require you to back selection or selections to be a minimum of 2.0 or greater for you to be eligible for their free £50 bet.
Some people therefore like to place the free wager on a small accumulator to make it worth their while. Of course this is subjective as a free ten pound win might be a lot to some people while anything less than £100 might be considered a waste of time.
